As a regional organization, Aging Services closely follows and acts upon a wide range of long-term care issues including financing, legislation, regulation and policy development in Maine and New Hampshire. As an affiliate of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) our members are kept abreast of issues and trends impacting long-term care nationally. Other services include the publication of a monthly newsletter, publication of an annual wage and salary survey/report, maintenance of an expanding membership directory, convening of an annual conference and exhibition and the staffing of membership organizations in both Maine and New Hampshire.

Professional Development Scholarship Program - We are pleased to announce a new member benefit in 2010 – a Professional Development Scholarship Program! The board of directors enthusiastically endorsed a program that will provide scholarships to members’ employees so that they may participate in educational programs offered by the association in order to learn new skills, and advance their careers and networks. The scholarships will entitle recipients (one each for Maine and New Hampshire members) to a free registration to attend one of our two remaining conferences in 2010: the Annual Conference in May; or the Leadership Forum in October.

  Preparedness
In response to the H1N1 outbreak, the association has offered to share information on our website to assist with members’ preparedness efforts. These documents, provided to us by Kendal at Hanover (Hanover, NH), offer a number of resources that members may wish to use in refining their own preparedness programs. Our thanks to Becky Smith, Executive Director of Kendal, and the Kendal at Hanover staff for sharing these resources with us. [NOTE: The Kendal Corporation gives permission for individual communities to use these documents for their personal use. They are not to be published, presented or used in any widespread manner without acknowledging Kendal's authorship.]
